The Dune is a
thematic hotel designed to cater to the growing demand for long stay
destinations with soul and comfort where cultures, ideas and people
merge with one another. A 30 acre eco-friendly beach hotel with
unique 24 aesthetic villas and 15 rooms fusing modern and traditional
architecture, swimming pool, organic farm, tennis court and 700m of sea
front, welcoming guests all through the year. The 2 restaurants
serve healthy gourmet fusion food, prepared using organically farmed
vegetables. The Dune is the base for AIR (Artists In Residence) a
programme providing work studios for Artists from all around the world.
We also shelter the activities of “Children Of The World India”, a
charitable trust with an organic model farm and a catering school for
Tsunami affected youngsters. It is Located on the Coramandel coast
of Tamil Nadu, 150 km south of Chennai (Madras) and just 15 Kms from the
heart of Pondicherry. The Dune cherishes the spirit "to live
in harmony with nature and men". For ages swamis (Holy Men) from
the nearby temples of Mahabalipuram used this scenic beach reserve as a
place of pilgrimage and meditation.

Our bungalows are sparsely spread and
discreetly hidden over 30 acres and 700m of beach front. Each one is of
a unique inspiration, furniture, size, facility, ranging from ones for
couples to ones for families or friends with lounge and private gardens.

They are known for their commitment to
reduce the impact on the environment. They are partly built using
reclaimed building material from South Indian Colonial houses, Chettinad
palaces and Kerala planter’s mansions. They are fully equipped with
Solar hot water system, low comsuption bulbs and Waste Water Treatment
Plant. Also included in the rooms are televisions with satellite
channels.

Not all our accommodation have air
conditioning for environmental reasons and we have most of the time a
refreshing sea breeze.
Each thematic bungalow is of a different inspiration, furniture, size,
facility and enjoys the privacy of its own garden.

A family atmosphere prevails here
always. This encourages people to meet, chat and interact with each
other. A rich fusion of traditional Indian and Continental recipes are
innovatively made to give you an unforgettable experience. Our food is
made-to-order, using fresh organic products as much as possible.

By the beach, next to the swimming pool
and the children's playground, you can enjoy fresh seafood cooked as per
your choice in the grill, the barbecue or the tandoor with fresh salads,
sandwiches, snacks and drinks.

We organise private dinners that should
give you an unforgettable experience. Our Chef can provide specially
cooked meals according to your celebrations and we arrange for a very
special setting as well.

Veda SPA provide more than 5O external
and Internal therapies from a simple relaxing experience to complete
cure for serious medical problems. It also promotes packages for Long
Treatment and Detoxifications Programs of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days.
The rejuvenation for your mind and body is provided by Dr Raganad’s
Indigenous Medical Laboratories.

Behind Dr Raganad’s expertise was his
inheritance of the wealth of knowledge left behind by his uncle Ezham
Sankaran who was the "Palace Doctor" of the erstwhile Maharaja
of Travancore. He established his Indigenous Medical Laboratories in
1938 and treated thousands of patients. He established a Centre for
giving training to other doctors and therapists. All this expertise and
experience are at yours disposal by highly trained therapists at Veda
Spa. We have 10 treatments rooms, an in-house Ayurvedic pharmacy,
a Steam house, a Health Club and a Beauty Treatments Center surrounded
by a beautiful Ayurvedic plant garden.

Artists in Residence
(AIR) is a space dedicated to creativity and culture since 2002. It acts
as a hub for international artists to live, meet, work and to discover
India, its artists and craftsmen. AIR is much more than a link between
east and west, it encourages artists to experiment with different
mediums, move from brush to shovel, from paint to stone.

NoArt and much more.
The Residence is open to any ideas, art and nationalities. Project are
open to artists who want to create on site to participate for the
development of this unique open space. We encourage the use of local
ressources and the work with local craftsmen.

The Dune is actively involved with the local communities in the field of
education and local capacity building.
These activities are carried out under an Indian trust Children of The
World India in association with "Enfants du monde", France.
|
|
|
|
CWI is supported by many individual donors and the French Red Cross. It
is involved in a 3 years rehabilitation project for Tsunami
affected farmers. The farm act as a demonstration and training centre.
The Dune is partner of the catering workshop of the Vocational Training
Institute based in Chennai.
The Dune staff kitchen located back side of the Tennis court is managed completely
by the school and 24 students are getting permanently trained
within the hotel premises.

Everyday you can enjoy our free Yoga
course for all in-house guests. From 7.00 AM to 8.00 AM and 5.30 PM to
6.30 PM. Private lessons are available for beginners and advance
practitioners.
