Getting in touch...

You can telephone or email us any time, day or night – just as you can if you are calling about someone else or making a referral.

Any contact is completely confidential, with no pressure to take it further if you don’t want to.

The telephone or email is usually a helpful way of starting to talk about the crisis, to explore feelings and whether a stay at Maytree is possible and likely to help.

The next step, which can be almost immediate, is to arrange for you to come to the house.

This is an opportunity for us to explore things more fully, to find out whether we can offer the support you need, and for you to see what you think of Maytree.

We call this ‘assessment,’ but it is an informal conversation; and if you live outside London, we can sometimes do this over the phone.

If you think we can help – and we agree – we can then arrange for you to stay.

Maytree isn’t for everyone.

If we can’t  meet your needs for some reason, we’ll do our best to think of someone who can.

During your stay...

As a guest at Maytree, you’ll have...

  • A room of your own, with full use of the kitchen, sitting room and garden
  • Someone to talk to, and privacy when you need your own space
  • Simple, home-cooked meals, with shops nearby for anything else you need.

We have a strict policy of no alcohol or drugs, apart from prescribed medication.

And afterwards?

Because of the way Maytree works, we can only offer a short, one-off stay.

During your stay we will discuss further or ongoing support you may need from other agencies, such as counselling, financial advice or finding a safe place to live.

Things to remember...

  • The first step is to give us a call
  • An appointment can be arranged quickly for assessment
  • You would stay for free
  • Maytree is not a drop-in centre
  • During your stay you are free to come and go as you please
  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed in "Maytree" during your stay
  • Maximum stay is four nights and you are not able to come back
  • During your time here we offer help in arranging support after leaving Maytree
  • All information is confidential.
