Maytree  a sanctuary for the suicidal

you are on our "support us" page      [home]

Maytree wouldn’t be here without the help of our friends and supporters.

There are a number of ways in which you can help.

  • Volunteers

We welcome people who are genuinely interested in other people and are willing and able to offer time, a good listening ear and compassion.

Volunteers are carefully selected and are informed about suicide awareness and Maytree’s codes of practice.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you will be invited for an initial interview.

The selection process includes three evenings of training.

Volunteers are always on shift with an experienced person and supervision is immediately to hand.

There are ongoing training groups both in-house and with external speakers.

During your shift at Maytree you will be available to guests to offer befriending and support at any time.

Your role will also include welcoming new arrivals, general household and administrative duties and the preparation of meals and refreshments.

Volunteers will maintain complete confidentiality and are expected to cover a minimum of 15 hours a month, which may include sleepovers.

We also need volunteers to help with publicising Maytree and fundraising.

All volunteers are subject to Criminal Records Bureau check.

  • Donors

Maytree is a charity, entirely funded by donations. There is no charge to guests or agencies making referrals. Even the smallest donation makes a difference.

A monthly donation made by banker's standing order gives us the confidence to plan ahead. It also saves us administration costs and we can reclaim nearly a third extra through the Gift Aid Scheme.

Alternatively, you could send a cheque to: 72 Moray Road, London. N4 3LG

Cheques should be made out to: The Maytree Respite Centre Ltd
