GYMSCHOOL
[ Gym Risk Assessment ] [ Gym Child Protection Policy ]
Talentcamp's
GYMSCHOOL
is suitable for boys and girls in primary
school who have so far had little
experience of gymnastics. The aim is to develop basic skills and
confidence to allow children, should they so choose, to progress later
in life to more specialist gymnastics centres. Sessions are delivered by
Pat Callaghan, who is currently working as a freelance educational
consultant in Physical Education within both primary and secondary
schools (to check out
Pat's c.v. please

A
typical session would consist of
the following activities:
-
A
fun warm up
-
Flexibility
and strengthening work
-
Fundamental
movement skills of agility, balance and co-ordination.
-
Formal
learning and practice of core gymnastic skills.
-
Opportunities
for creativity through sequence composition.
All
strands of the PE National Curriculum are covered within sessions,
namely :
-
Acquisition
of skill
-
Compositional
ability
-
Understanding
of health and fitness implications
-
Ability
to evaluate performance of self and others.
Furthermore,
in line with the latest thinking in talent development in young people,
we work on all the areas of the “multi-ability profile”, specifically
:
-
Physical
-
Personal
-
Social
-
Cognitive
-
Creative
Finally
we have a simple code for all children to follow, that is "CODE
RED" :
-
RESPECT
-
EFFORT
-
DISCIPLINE
